Frogs, Frogs, Everywhere

So my friend has a terrible frog phobia. She says that the way they move make her fear to walk. If she were to take a step one would for sure slink right under her foot and SQUISH!!

Bad News... SO in her honor I made a frog:

Also in her honor I made her thesis character, with my own little twists and turns:

Check her BLOG OUT!!!!

My next update probably wont happen till we are into Christmas Break. Guess where I'm going?

Too late!

Z-Sketching Test

Well the newest version of Zbrush also includes a thing called Zsketching which allows for some quick blocking in of shapes on top of an armature. Its a bit funky, but here is what I came up with in about 45 mins of messing around:

It turned out pretty well I think! It is amazing how fast you can pump some of this stuff out. It allows for a lot of trial and error. Each time I make something new I feel like I can speed up some of the initial blocking and head straight into detail. I have never been much of a person to spend too much time on coming up with an initial concept. I prefer to work on the fly because you might tweak something just a little bit and bam there is the one thing you have been wanting the whole time. Though you may have done 100 preliminary sketches, finding what you want in your sculpt will always be the primary thing in your finished piece. It's much funner this way anyways!!!

Just one week till break. Ohhh yeaa!!!

Maybe I should just start saving my vids and post them in mass rather than having 10000 posts.... Hah well I'm keeping this blog pretty much up to date so far. I guess that's a good sign!

If you have any requests or suggestions of stuff I could model hook me up PLEASE! I am always looking for some kind of inspiration :) and what people suggest could be something new and wacky that I would never think of!

Thanksgiving Break Coming to a Close

Well here we are, the end of a week of break. It has been awesome! Nothing like getting a little rest and partying literally every night with the gang. Still manage to get some work done between the fun though.

Whoever said that chocolate was the key to a woman's heat, obviously has never seen them near a puppy.

Hope to get some more stuff done this week. My website is starting to burst from the seems with models. I'm going to have to make a few more pages and subdivide (pardon the phrase) the way my things are organized.

Environment Painting

We are working on a project that's called DRAMA in our Drawing For Animators class. The ideas is to make a scene with a character in it and to make it kind of over the top grandeur. My idea was to make my scene underground. I really haven't seen this type of place done much in 3D, I wonder if there is a reason for it? Well I'm going to do crystal caves of extreme size, dwarfing my small character who is looking up at this mighty cave.

Here are some Inspirational images that I grabbed for the feel and what I am going for.

Some thumbnails of different arrangements and compositions for my image.

My progress thus far just refining shape and composition.

Mission Statement

After having held out these many years against blogging, it would appear that I have been defeated, but that is only to the untrained eye. I have infact just decided to investigate what a blog can bring to my life.

My goal is to gather inspiration from others as well as myself. I hope to get myself more out there in the art world and to start collaborating more. Having a blog will help push me to create new and better works of art.

So it begins…
